Masarat booked under new case, sent on judicial remand

Srinagar: Incarcerated Hurriyat Conference (G) leader and Muslim League chairman, Masarat Alam Bhat was Thursday booked under a new FIR No 158/2016 registered in Baramulla police station.
Legal secretary to Muslim League Shah Riyaz told Kashmir Reader that though Masarat was in jail during 2016 yet a case has been registered against him.
“How can a person commit an offence outside jail when he is behind bars,” asked Riyaz.
He said that Masarat was produced before CJM Baramulla who sent him on judicial remand till March 31.
As reported earlier, Masarat was released yesterday after a bail was produced to the jail authorities however he was immediately re-arrested by a police party.
The bail, which was upheld by the Session Court Bandipora after rejecting a state petition against it was produced before the district jail Baramulla authorities.
Masarat is undergoing imprisonment since October 2010 barring forty days after he was arrested for spearheading then people’s uprising.
