BANDIPORA: Development Commissioner Bandipora, Sajad Hussain Monday inaugurated Kissan Mela organized by Agriculture Department at ITI Campus Bandipora.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, JD Agriculture (Inputs), Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora, officials of the Agriculture Department and a good number of progressive farmers were present on the occasion.
During the Mela, more than 20 stalls of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry, Floriculture, KVK, Apiculture and Animal Husbandry Departments were put on display, besides a few progressive businessman had also setup their stalls.
On the occasion, the DDC appealed people particularly educated youth to come forward and avail benefits from various farmer related welfare schemes of the Government.
He said that there is a great potential for bee keeping, fish rearing, Sheep and Animal Husbandry sectors in the district. He said that the administration is keen to provide technical guidance and financial facilities to farmers for better yield.
Later, the DDC distributed soil health cards among the farmers enabling them to get crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilizers required for the individual farms to help farmers to improve productivity through judicious use of inputs.
Various experts also enlightened the participants with their experiences and latest techniques for increase in productivity.
