Srinagar: A two-day national seminar was held at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to highlight the literary contributions of Prof Mohiuddin Hajini, an illustrious Kashmiri intellectual who was also an alumni the university.
The seminar was organised by the department of modern Indian Languages in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
The seminar commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr Abdul Majid Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Islamic Studies. Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Associate Professor, Department of Modern Indian Languages introduced Prof Hajini to the audience. He said that Hajini carried on the Sir Syed’s vision and mission perfectly in Kashmir. He worked night and day to promote the art and culture of Kashmir.
He said Hajini was a great literary figure who was well-read and well-versed in traditional and modern sciences propounding the integration of knowledge. He was less interested in publicity and self promotion.
Traditional Kashmiri sufiana music played by a group of leading Kashmiri artists led by Ustad Mohammad Ismail Bhat was the highlight of the seminar.
Eminent philosopher Prof Sanauallah Parwaz presented the key note address.
The session culminated with the vote of thanks by TN Satishan who highlighted the relevance of science and religion with special reference to literary works of Professor Hajini.
