SRINAGAR: Chairman Huriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday slammed authorities for shifting the JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik to central jail and placing Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saif Ullah, Raja Meraj ud Din and Mohammad Ashraf Laya under house arrest.
In a statement issued here, Geelani said authorities have accepted defeat and “it testifies our stand that these elections are mere drama sponsored by armed forces”.
Mirwaiz condoles demise of Syed Faiz Naqashbandi SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday expressed grief over the demise of the mother of Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, the convenor of conglomerate’s ‘Azad’ Kashmir Chapter. As per a statement issued here, Mirwaiz, who could not attend the funeral prayers due to his house arrest, expressed condolences with Naqashbandhi, who is currently attending the 34th session at the UNHRC at Geneva, Mirwaiz extended sympathies with the bereaved family and offered special prayers for the deceased soul.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders Advocate Shahid-ul- Islam, Engineer Hilal Ahmad Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Advocate Yasir Dalaal and others participated in the funeral prayers of the deceased.
