BARAMULLA: A day-long awareness camp organized by Sericulture Development Department was held Saturday at Dak Banglow Baramulla in which District Development Commissioner Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash was the chief guest.
As many as 200 silkworm rearers from Tangmarg, Pattan, Sopore, Rafiabad, Uri and field functionaries from various parts of the district participated in the awareness programme.
During the camp, experts made farmers aware about latest technologies and facilities for boosting cocoon production and silk rearing.
Officials of the Department said that registered cocoon growers of district are being regularly administered training within and outside the State through training workshops under different Government schemes and programmes.
On the occasion, the DDC urged the farmers to adopt the latest technologies of the field, so that their cocoon production reflects improvement which will usher in their economic upliftment. He advised the farmers to avail benefits of various State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
