Man accompanying police party to locate ‘abducted’ woman killed in mob attack

Baramulla: A man from Naribal area of Rafiabad was killed on Friday evening in Paranpeela village of border town Uri when he was accompanying a police team to identify an abducted woman.
Official sources said that one Mushtaq Ahmad Khan from Kutroo Naribal had reported to police station Panzla that his wife, a mother of two kids, was kidnapped by one Ashiq Ahmad Khan of Paranpeela Uri some days back.
On the basis of his complaint, a police team reached Paranpeela Uri Friday afternoon and recovered the women, while some locals hurled  stones at the police parties resulting the injury of some policemen and two civilians Mushtaq and Bashir Ahmad Khan, a relative of Mushtaq,  who were accompanying the police team for identification.
Bashir succumbed to his injuries later, police said.
Nazir Ahmad Khan, Bashir’s brother told Kashmir Reader that Bashir was killed by the family of abductor and demanded that the culprits should be booked under law.
He added that deceased was father of a toddler girl.
On Saturday, large number of people from Rafiabad reached Baramulla where police handed over Bashir’s body to them. Later, the people staged a protest against the killing and appealed district administration to book and punish all the culprits under law.
A senior police officer said that police register a case under FIR number 11/2017 under section 341,147,148,119,307,326 RPC.
