BUDGAM: A daylong training-cum-awareness programme for sheep breeders of Budgam was held today which was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Mir Altaf Ahmad.
The programme organized by Sheep Husbandry Department under Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme is aimed to help the breeders to acquaint themselves with the latest technology and practices in the Sheep Husbandry sector.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC stressed breeders to avail the benefits of modern technology used in sheep rearing and such programs be conducted at block levels. He advised them to make full use of latest technology and rear genetically modified cross breeds to start sheep farming as a viable income generating option. He also advised them to be forthcoming in their needs and district administration shall facilitate their legitimate demands.
Officials of the Sheep Husbandry presented a detailed report of various steps taken by the Department to boost the sector and about dosing and vaccination carried out to prevent the livestock from various diseases besides also about various incentives and subsidies.
