Srinagar: Reacting to the decision of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) to contest the parliamentary by-polls alone, National Conference working president Omar Abdullah said that he “could not understand their game”.
“I can’t understand their game,” Omar said in his press conference on Wednesday. “Why do PDP and BJP take people so much for granted, and make a fool out of them?”
“If they (BJP and PDP) want to give an impression that they are not together, then why are they running the government together? If they are not together, if this is not an alliance, then why do BJP ministers not resign? On what issue are they fighting polls?” he asked.
“If the BJP wants to defeat the PDP, then how are they running a government together? I believe that our people, our voters, are intelligent and they won’t fall in this trap that they (BJP and PDP) are different. They are together, they have been together, and they will remain together,” Omar said.
The BJP had earlier in the day announced that it would contest the by-polls without an alliance with the PDP.
