SRINAGAR: The directorate of school education’s decision to attach the principal of Girls Higher Secondary School Amirakadal has resulted into withholding of monthly wages to a large number of employees as the treasury officials refused to clear the salary bill for the month of February.
The principal was recently attached with the directorate that resulted into seizure of drawing and disbursing powers. Sources said despite the attachment, the school officials submitted salary bills of February to the treasury but the officials refused to clear the bills under official norms.
A staff member said that the attachment of principal would have been an administrative decision but it should not deprive the employees their due salaries. “The directorate must make alternate arrangements to release the salary,” the employee said.
A local news agency quoted Minister of Education Syed Altaf Bukhari saying that he would ensure the disbursement of salaries to the employees without any further delay.
