SRINAGAR: The National Health Mission (NHM) employees on Tuesday deferred their strike till mid-May after winding up two-week-long shutdown and protests. The strike was called off after the state authorities assured regularization of services and implementation of equal work rule.
The spokesperson of NHM Employees Abdul Rouf said that a delegation of NHM employees met Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Baghat on Monday in presence of Minister of State for Health and Medical Education Asiea Naqash and director NHM Mohan Singh. They assured the delegation that all the genuine demands will be addressed within the legal framework, he said.
He said following the assurances, the employees deferred the strike till 15 May. “If the government failed to do anything till the stipulated time, we will hit the streets again,” he said.
