PAMPORE: Jammu and Kashmir Employees Electrical Union (JKEEU), an association of Power Development Department (PDD) employees has decided to go on two-day strike from March 15.
The state president JKEEU, Mir Abdul Salam Rajpori told Kashmir Reader that they had
time and again put various demands of PDD employees before the government but they have not been paid any heed.
“As government has been adamant and has not yielded to any of the demands, we have decided to go on 48-hour long strike from March 15,” Mir said adding that their demands included provision of safety tools at all receiving stations, a permit to work guidelines segregating the works of employees at different ranks, holding of training for all employees as per national guidelines and amendment in welfare fund rules of employees, and stopping overexploitation of need basis workers who get Rs 1000 as stipends for whole year.
He also demanded that the families of employees who suffer from accidents must be compensated and there should not be any discrimination between a need based workers and a permanent employee.
He warned the government that if the demands were not fulfilled they would further the strike and would not mind who suffers.
