Bad weather forces schools shut in Uri

Baramulla: Authorities shut down several primary level schools in border town Uri after fresh snowfall and incessant rains.
Chief education officer Baramulla Mushtaq Ahmad said that he has ordered all the headmasters of Boniyar, Chandanwari, Uri, and Jol zones to monitor the situation and if needed close the primary level schools for next two days.
“Several areas in Uri received heavy snowfall and there are chances of avalanche and slides and I ordered all the headmaster’s to shut the schools till primary level if needed for next two days, till weather will improve” CEO said.
In many villages in Uri along the line of control authorities have yet to clear the roads and schools in these areas are still off from past December.
According to reports government middle school in Badrali in Limber area is still shut because of uncleared four feet of snow, while schools in dozens of other villages could not be reopened similarly because of uncleared snow.
