SRINAGAR: The chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday termed the participation in elections as “treason with the blood of martyrs”.
In a statement issued here, Shah said, “Those who bring more pellets from Delhi to snatch the vision of our children are now begging for votes. I hope the honourable people of the State will not let anyone play with the blood of martyrs.”
“Our youth are sacrificing their precious lives for the freedom of the nation. How can we vote and support their killers. These people don’t need our votes; they can still make the puppet government. Fact is that New Delhi uses these elections as a tool to legitimise its illegal and forcible occupation of Jammu Kashmir,” he added.
Shah said we will be equally responsible for the killing of our people if we intentionally or unintentionally support the pro-India elements. “We have to seriously ponder over it as to how innocents like Amir Nazir Wani are killed. Any kind of participation in the pro-India electoral process is an open treason with the mission and blood of martyrs,” he said.
Meanwhile, the DFP chairman issued directions to party activists to start election boycott campaigns in their respective areas and aware people about the “negative” consequences of participating in polls.
“By boycotting the elections, we have to send a clear message to India that it cannot enslave us for long and that these elections mean nothing to us,” he said.
Shah said the people of Jammu Kashmir and the resistance leadership are “together heading towards the goal (of freedom) and only patience and steadfastness is required”.
“The best way to pay tributes to our martyrs is to completely boycott the elections,” Shah said.
