Sopore: A week-long sanitation campaign with the theme ” Save Water, Stop Pollution” initiated by Municipal Committee Sopore concluded at Welkin Institute Sopore on Tuesday.
Students of the institute and other speakers highlighted the importance of sanitation in promoting a healthy life. Besides informing the audience about the benefit of using proper toilets and soap in washing hands, they said that improved sanitation will accelerate progress towards the millennium development goals and will help Kashmir to be safe from the vicious diseases.
Executive Officer of Municipal Council Sopore G M Lone said that the committee conducted various activities during the sanitation week in the town to create awareness among the general public regarding use of dustbins and avoid littering.
Others who spoke on the occasion are BMO Sopore Mohammad Sami, Basix Municipal Waste Ventures Ltd J&K head Raja Muzaffar Bhat. Members of the trader federations, civil society, and students participated in the function.
