SRINAGAR: Police on Monday detained the general secretaries of Hurriyat (G) and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Shabir Ahmad Shah and Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai respectively and placed them under house arrest, a spokesman of the conglomerate said.
He said police also raided houses of several leaders and activists including Raja Meraj-u-Din Kalwal and Omer Adil Dar. He said despite curbs and restrictions, a delegation comprising of Mohammad Yusuf Mujahid, Zahoor ul Haq Geelani, and Siraj ud Din succeeded in reaching Tral and conveyed condolence message of Syed Ali Geelani to bereaved families.
“The whole nation shares its grief and stands with them. We salute them and are proud of these families,” the delegation quoted Geelani as saying.
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah in a separate statement paid tributes to slain militants of Huffu, Tral saying, “The best way to pay homage to mujahedeen is to remain sincere with the mission for which they laid down their lives.”
