Srinagar: Police and other government forces had to face severe stone pelting as they cordoned off Pinjura village of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Monday.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that forces were laying a siege around the Dangar Mohalla of the village when people, mostly youths came on streets and pelted stones on them.
They said that forces used tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters. Clashes were on when reports last came in.
SP Shopian Tahir Saleem, while talking to Kashmir Reader confirmed the cordoning of Pinjura village after input about the presence of militants.
