Srinagar: Amid shutdown thousands of people Monday offered Nimaz-e-Jinaza of Hizbul Mujhadeen militant Aqib Ahmad Bhat @Aqib Molvi, at his native village in Tral back to back four times to accommodate everybody.
The funeral prayers were offered at Aaqib’s native village Hyuna in Tral.
Aqib was one among the two militants killed during 15 hour long gunfight with government forces at Haffu, Nazneenpora village on Sunday.
A large number of people from Tral, Awantipora and other areas of Pulwama district had reached Hyuna to participate in the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of Aaqib and have a last glimpse of him, local sources told Kashmir Reader.
Chanting pro-freedom and pro-Islamic slogans, people were seen weeping and mourning.
Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani addressed the larege gathering telephonically and appealed people to take the “movement” to its logical end, sources said.
