Srinagar: A joint operation of the army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) against militants, in Chillipora village in Kashmir’s Shopian district, was called off Saturday.
A gunfight ensued after forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Chillipora. Police sources said forces cordoned off the village after receiving a tip-off that two or three militants were hiding in the village.
Local sources said that forces have left the village as there was no firing from any side since early today.
They said it is believed that holed up militants have fled the village during the night even the search operation lasted for many hours today.
As reported earlierm, gunshots were heard at Chillipora, Sugan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district late Friday evening after forces laid a siege in the area and started search operation.
