SRINAGAR: Huriyat Conference (G) on Friday expressed serious concern over the state administration’s decision to add more pellet guns saying authorities are “hell bent on muzzling voices with through might”.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman of the conglomerate said the move illustrates the “power of arrogance” of authorities who are looking Kashmir issue through the prism of law and order.
“It is a sheer arrogance and verifies that authorities don’t accept and realise the fundamental issue,” he said.
“Adding more weapons like pellet gun is of grave concern for the people in Jammu Kashmir. It is an open challenge for those organisations fighting and striving for human rights as these bodies have composed enough records about the horrors of pellet gun,” the spokesman added.
Criticising Indian home ministry for the decision, the spokesman said they have no regard for human values. “They neither heed to objections raised by the concerned quarters nor do they show any care and concern for precious lives and values. They have not learnt any lesson from 2016 uprising.”
“More than 100 innocents were brutally killed, 6000 maimed and those who lost their eyesight figure more than seventy, however they turned their blind eye to these incidents and are hell bent on repeating all this in 2017,” he added.
The Hurriyat spokesman said India is a “fascist state relying on lies” and “hence their claim about being a big democracy stands exposed”
