Ganderbal: The frequent digging by the various cellular companies to lay cables in the road side on Srinagar Leh highway in Ganderbal district goes unchecked and authorities seem to be unmoved.
A delegation of the residents of Gund and Kangan tehsils situated on the highway told Kashmir Reader that the digging was done to lay cable several months ago and the roadsides were left without proper re-filling and repairs. They said the damaged road collars caused accidents.
The cellular companies are compounding the problem by digging road for laying cables without carrying repair works, Sheikh Amir a local resident of Gund Said
They said the frequent digging of the road leads to the traffic jams in the area and the problem would aggravate after the reopening of Srinagar-Leh highway.
A senior Border Roads Organisation (BRO) official said that they have taken up the matter with the concerned cellular company and asked it to ensure complete restoration of the road. “We have many times written to the concerned agency. We will take up the matter with them again,” he said.
