Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president, GA Mir Saturday said that the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Member Parliament, Tariq Hamid Karra would join the congress party today in Delhi.
“Karra Sahab will join the congress party today in Delhi,” Mir told Kashmir Reader. “I am also in Delhi in that connection”.
“The timing and the venue of his joining is being finalized. We are working on that very thing. He will join today” he added.
Asked whether congress will place Karra at some significant position in the party, Mir said that will be decided by the party high command led by Rahul Gandhi.
“They will decide which position he will hold in the state congress,” Mir said.
Karra resigned from his Lok Sabha seat at the peak of summer uprising of 2016. Later he resigned from the PDP as well.
Karra was among the founding members of PDP. He was not happy with the PDP-BJP alliance, and called it an “unnatural alliance”.
