SRINAGAR: J&K High Court Bar Association on Friday denounced the statement of Indian Army Chief, Bipin Rawat, in which he has stated that the people helping militants will be dealt as anti-nationals and will face harsh action. It also condemned the statement of India’s Minister of State for Home, K Rijju who has supported the statement of Army Chief.
As per a statement issued here, the Association held a meeting of its executive committee members and it was stated that “when the entire populace of Kashmir is engaged in a war of freedom against the Indian occupation from 1948 and they want an end to the brutalities as also their suppression and oppression unleashed by the Indian armed forces in Kashmir, how can the Army Chief ask the same very people to stay away from the encounter sites to activate the killing their brethren by the forces”.
It was also stated that Kashmiris, whether they are militants or ordinary people, have only one aim and objective before them; that is “India should vacate Kashmir and give the people of Kashmir a chance to decide about their future, in accordance with their wishes and aspirations which is also guaranteed to them by 28 Security Council Resolutions to which India is also a signatory and which resolutions have remained unimplemented for the last 70 years due to the stubborn, arrogant and rigid attitude of the Indian authorities”.
“Indian Army Chief’s statement is a manifestation of the fact that it is not a few militants who are engaged in a war of freedom, but all the people of Kashmir want freedom from India and it is only because of the said reason that whenever anyone is arrested, detained or killed, they are all pained,” the statement said.
“Instead asking the people of Kashmir to stay away from the encounter sites, Rawat and Rijiju should advise the government of India and its forces to respect the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir and undertake the demilitarization and other concrete measures to settle the Kashmir issue.”
