Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief Syedah Aasiya Andrabi and her close associate Sofi Fahmeeda, DeM sources said.
Both were arrested from Aasiya’s residence at Soura area of Srinagar and shifted to Rambagh women’s police station, DeM General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen said.
“Police arrested Assiya and Fahmeeda at 9.20am,” Nahida said.
Pertinently, Aasiya was under continuous house detention since her release from Baramula sub jail on Dec 21, 2016.
She is suffering from many ailments and is under treatment. “Aasiya Ji used to take fifteen tablets per day as she is suffering from many ailments,” Nahida said. She added that even at the time of arrest, Aasiya was very ill.
Sources said that firebrand Aasiya had wished many times to meet her jailed husband, Dr Qasim Faktoo during her house detention however she was denied a permission every time.
