Srinagar: Many civilians were injured after massive clashes erupted around the encounter site in Kulgam district of south Kashmir in which four militants, two army men and a civilian were killed on Sunday.
The protests erupted after the news about the militant killings spread in the area.
Pertinently, a gunfight had started in wee hours between the militants and the government forces in Frisal, Yaripora area of the south district.
Reports said that locals from the surrounding areas started marching towards the encounter site and attempted to break the cordon.
The government forces swung into action and fired tear smoke shells on them.
Locals alleged that forces also fired bullets on the protesters. They said that many civilians have received bullet injuries. However police did not confirm the allegations.
Local sources said that the injured have been shifted to the different hospitals and violent protests were going on in the area.
