Hajin: A habitation in Hajin area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has been deprived of power supply for several months as the transformer got damaged umpteen times sand perfect repairs or replacement.
The inhabitants of Syed Mohallah, B, said their transformer developed some technical snag seven times since November. They said the transformer developed snag again and again after it was attended to at the department’s workshop.
Since January 22, we are reeling under darkness in this chilly winter and despite repeated requests the transformer has not been restored at all, Aijaz Ahmad, a local resident said.
He added that our transformer got damaged three weeks ago and despite our repeated pleas the transformer is yet to be repaired which makes us suffer immensely in this harsh winter. We had approached the concerned department several times but to no avail.
Officials of the PDD blamed the overloading as the main reason for the repeated outages. “The people are not following their agreement with the department. They run motors, heaters, boilers and other electricity gadgets. This is the reason why the transformers develop snag quite often,” the official said.
He said during the recent snowfall many transformers got damaged in the area. However, he said the department is trying to provide sufficient energy to the area.
