Shutdown affects normal life in Kashmir

Srinagar: Life was Friday affected due to shutdown in the Kashmir valley, reports said.
Joint Resistance leadership comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik spearheading the agitation for right to self determination, had called for strike against the Kolkata court verdict in which a Kulgam man was sentenced to death.
Government forces have been deployed in Srinagar and other parts of the valley to prevent any “law and order” problem during the day, particularly after Friday prayers, police sources said.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and majority public transport also remained off the roads in Srinagar and all the ten district headquarters of the valley.
However, work in offices, banks and other public undertakings was near normal.
