Srinagar: Describing the exploitation of natural resources of Jammu and Kashmir as “loot and plunder” of New Delhi, Hurriyat Conference (G) on Wednesday said that India with its military might occupied the state and grabbed all its natural resources with the facilitation of its “henchmen” including Farooq Abdullah and Mufti Syed.
Geelani said the “forced occupation was the root cause of all evils including the political uncertainty, economic and social turbulences. “As long as the forced occupation persists, the worst situation will continue to prevail,” he said in a statement.
He said the authorities in Delhi were hell-bent to cripple and crush the state economy and create a sense of insecurity. “They (New Delhi) are very desperate to see us holding begging bowl. Our economy has always remained easy target and it is their well thought ploy to make every soul dependant,” asserted Geelani.
Geelani said the pro-India politicians in Jammu and Kashmir always served the interests of Delhi and extended their support for exploitation of situation and never resented such shrived moves played by authorities in Delhi. “For the lust of power, they (pro-India politicians) bartered all state interests to their masters in Delhi,” said Geelani.
He said the power projects were managed by NHPC and the “state stooges” are sole responsible for instrument of agreements and played their pivotal role for the transfer of these projects to NHPC.
Referring to Rangarajan committee, Geelani said the committee in its recommendations though paved way for the return of Dul Hasti and Uri projects, as clause nine of said agreement clarifies that these projects can be returned to state authorities when demanded, however, the response from PMO office is scary and dishonest, thus clarified their intentions about their policy to crush and cripple economy of state.
