Geelani seeks Ashraf Sehraie’s freedom

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday expressed serious concern over continuous detention of Tehreek-e-Huriyat general secretary, Mohammad Ashraf Sehraie. Urging for his immediate release, Syed Ali Geelani said that elderly leader is suffering from multiple ailments and despite this administration has curbed all his activities and didn’t allow him to offer social and religious obligations. “Since July 2016, Sehraie continues to be under detention and police failed to produce any order or justify his detention,” Geelani said in a statement.
Geelani said that coalition regime is implementing its autocratic rule in state and has virtually waged war against common masses. Instead upholding the ethos of democracy, law and justice police is resorting to lawlessness. They don’t honour even court judgment and political activists are being detained without assigning any reason, the statement said.
Geelani asked the administration for immediate release of Sehraie and said if anything untoward happens to ailing leader, the administration will be held responsible.
Huriyat chairman in his appeal to human rights organization impressed to take cognizance and urged upon them to use their influence for Sehraie’s immediate release.
