SRINAGAR: On the eve of World Leprosy Day, a Srinagar-based Shaheen Sports Syndicate (SSS) on Monday distributed rice cookers, woolen blankets and woolen clothing among Leper patients. It also organised leprosy awareness programme at Khust Asharam, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
As per a statement issued here, President JKFA and Treasurer AIFF Zameer Ahmad Thakur were chief guests while as Principle, Bright Candle High School, Meena Kamal Gupta was the guest of honour.
On the occasion, Chairman SSS Showkat Ahmad Khanyari said, “Today’s distribution and awareness programme is vital in educating people about leprosy disease and leper patients. It’s our moral duty to help the unprivileged class of society. That is why we always come from Kashmir to help the needy in Jammu.”
He added, “I urge the influential and affluent people to support leper patients. As a society we have to contribute for the betterment of our people which SSS and its members are adhering to.”
Khanyari also highlighted the role of JK Bank in its assistance to social service and appealed people to further strengthen their bonding of relationship with JK bank besides prayed for bank’s prosperity and development.
Dr Kuldeep Kumar Gupta awarded people, patients and secretary SSS Mohammad Farooq Mattoo along with Jammu head Ramesh Dogra thanked the doctors and social workers for their support.
