Guv regrets absence of babus ‘At Home’

JAMMU: Eager to see more people at Bakhshi Stadium for the Republic Day parade, the government had issued orders warning government employees of punitive action if they failed to show up at the venue. However, a day later, governor NN Vohra regretted that a “large number” of senior officers invited to Raj Bhavan for an R-Day event not only did not come but “did not even care to specify reasons for their inability to attend”.
A Raj Bhavan spokesperson said, “The governor has desired that the chief minister may be apprised about the aforesaid matter and has stressed that if the state has to achieve its goals all government employees need to be visibly disciplined particularly the senior echelons of the state.”
The spokesperson said the Governor’s Secretariat had sent invitations to senior officers up to the rank of Special Secretary to Government and Heads of Departments stationed at Jammu to attend the event called ‘At Home’ at 4PM on 26 January.
“It is relevant to recall the government had issued circular instructions on 10-01-2017 to all Departments to impress upon all officers/officials of the State Government and Public Sector Undertakings stationed at Jammu to attend the Republic Day Celebrations 2017 as a part of their official duty. The order also stated that failure to attend the function will be construed as dereliction of the duty and disobedience of the government instructions,” the spokesperson said.
