SRINAGAR: Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday said the state administration, under the garb of settling Kashmiri Pandits in valley “is conspiring against the integrity and special status of the state.”
In a statement issued here, Shah said, “It is a deep rooted conspiracy of RSS and BJP to settle non-resident Kashmiris in the state under such mischievous plan which only promotes communalism in the state. The resistance leadership has always welcomed Pandits by even visiting personally to their camps.”
“We have never opposed their return or rehabilitation but to settle them in separate colonies is unacceptable for us.”
He appealed Pandits not to “fall prey to ‘nefarious designs’ of elements who want to ‘exploit’ them and are bent upon ‘creating communal disturbance’ in the state.”
“We have been living together since centuries and should keep our tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood intact,” he said.
The DFP chairman said the peace in subcontinent is impossible without resolving Kashmir. He said world nations must mediate in Kashmir dispute and stress on all stakeholders of the issue to start a dialogue in this regard. “Otherwise, the threat of war will continue to loom over the region,” he said.
Shah said New Delhi must realise if it wants India to progress, it should resolve all the disputes including Kashmir. He reiterated that people of all religions and regions of the state will be taken on board while deciding the future of Jammu Kashmir. “The people of J&K are the prime stakeholders of this dispute. When we talk of referendum, we mean the opinion of the whole population of Jammu Kashmir,’ he said.
