SRINAGAR: HDFC Bank on Friday showcased its human-sized robot that has been employed to boost customer service.
The launch at its Kamala Mills branch in Mumbai will see IRA, which stands for Intelligent Robotic Assistant; help branch staff in servicing customers better. With this the bank becomes the first bank in the country to introduce a humanoid for customer service.
Developed using Robotics and Artificial Intelligence technologies, IRA will be positioned near the welcome desk, where it will greet customers and guide them to the relevant counter in the branch such as Cash Deposit, Foreign Exchange, Loans, among others in the first phase.
The bank officials said that the humanoid is well versed in English language initially will have minimal services and other services will be added in future. Nitin Chugh, country head for digital banking said that the inclusion will not affect the main workforce at the bank and it is an additional service we are providing to our valued customers.
“IRA is a quite unique and will serve as a technology demonstrator in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics,” he said.
