SRINAGAR: Field Executives of Legal Metrology Department Tuesday conducted market inspection of various markets in Srinagar during which a non-local LED manufacturing company was penalized for violation of norms.
The drive conducted under the supervision of Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Department found that a Srinagar based retailer of electrical goods was selling LED panel lights in violation of Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
According to a statement of the Department, manufacturing date was missing and font size of declaration written on the package was of only 2mm thickness instead of 4mm on these LEDs, as required under the Legal Metrology Act.
The statement said the LED manufacturing non-local company namely Shree International, New Delhi was found responsible for the lapse and was fined RS 14,000 accordingly.
The statement added that Consumers who wish to register their complaints have been asked to visit the Department’s office at Bemina Srinagar or telephonically on 0194-2490390 and 0194-2495058 during office hours.
