Srinagar: Scores of youth, who were among 231 persons terminated after nearly seven years from the post of Wireless Operators in Jammu Kashmir Police, staged a protest against the decision here on Monday.
In compliance with the court directions, Jammu Kashmir Police terminated the services of 231 Wireless Operators, 90 belonging to Kashmir and 141 from Jammu region.
The youth assembled in Press Enclave and termed the order ‘unjust’ and uncalled for”.
“We have been in service from past seven years, drawing salary and even our service books have been officiated. The decision of the department shocked us. We appeal to the department not to disengage our services, but allow us to plead our case through department in the court of law,” the protesters said.
They said that a competent police recruitment board made selection of more than 900 candidates as operators in 2009 after going through proper selection process that took three “precious years” of the candidates from the time of the publication of the advertisement notice.
They appealed government to revoke the termination order and save their future.
