Parvez Rasool picked for India’s T20 squad

SRINAGAR: Cricketer Parvez Rasool has been picked for the upcoming T20I series against England, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday.
Virat Kolhi-led Team India will play a three-match T20I series against England from January 26.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader from Jammu airport, Parvez said, “I am happy to be included in the India T-20 squad and also thankful to almighty Allah.”

*Became the first cricketer from J&K to play a ODI in June last year against Bangladesh.
*Was part of the Indian team that toured Zimbabwe for a series, but could not make it to the final 11-member squad.
*The first cricketer from the state to get an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract, when he signed up for the now-defunct Pune Warriors.
*Played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the seventh season of the IPL and in the 8thedition of IPL he played for Royal Challangers Banglore(RCB).

He added, “In the domestic Ranji season I performed well with both bat and ball. I took 38 wickets at an average of 23.86 and scored 629 runs and topped the all-rounder category in the entire India and was rewarded for my performances.”
The right arm off-spinner, Parvez said that he will have an opportunity to perform at the highest level.
Earlier, he had bagged three wickets conceding only 38 runs in his 10-over spell during a tour match in a one-day series with England.
The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin has been rested for the T20I series.
Parvez has played just the one international game till date—against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
He became the first cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir to be selected in the Indian team to play an international side.
In the IPL, Parvez has represented Pune Warriors, Sunrisers Hyderabad and, most recently, Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 37 T20s, he has 27 wickets at 34.44 with an economy rate of 6.88.
