SRINAGAR: The state government will vie for two smart cities in round third of a challenge by the government of India.
“The 2nd draft of smart city proposal in respect of Jammu and Srinagar cities has been submitted by the consultant—M/S Voyants Solutions Private Limited —engaged for the purpose but same is under improvement in consultation with stake holders and shall be submitted to the Ministry of Urban Development, for Smart City Challenge-II (Round – III),” minister in charge said in a reply to a BJP legislator in the state assembly.
It however refused details regarding the component-wise cost for development of each Smart city, saying it shall emerge out only when final draft of Smart City Proposal will be ready for submission to Indian Ministry of Urban Development.
Regarding conduct of Elections of Municipal Corporation and Local Bodies, the government said that the issue was under its active consideration of the Government.
However, it said, no date has not been finalized as yet and shall be confirmed in consultation with Chief Electoral Officer.
The government also revealed that Rs. 169.2895 crore losses were suffered on account of withholding the Central Assistance to the State for not conducting the Local Bodies Election for the past 4 years.
