SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) has called an executive meeting of its constituent members on Jan¬uary 22 (Sunday) which will be presided by its chairman Syed Ali Geelani.
In a statement issued here, a Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said after six months, all constituent members will dis¬cuss the prevailing situation in the state. “Chairman Syed Ali Geelani will preside the meet¬ing while as general secretary Shabir Ahmad Shah and all other members are expected to attend the proposed meeting,” he said.
He said administration has restricted all social and politi¬cal activities of Syed Ali Gee¬lani and virtually turned his residence into a jail. “Geelani is not in a position to venture out of his residence and as such has called an executive meeting at Hyderpora (residence),” he said.
Akbar said conglomerate’s general secretary Shabir Ah¬mad Shah last week convened the executive meeting at his Sanat Nagar residence; how¬ever some important issues are to be discussed in presence of its chairman, Syed Ali Gee¬lani. “We have informed all the executive members and served notices,” he said.
