Srinagar: Taking potshots at Mehbooba Mufti led state government, Hurriyat Conference (G) on Tuesday said the administration is non-existent on the ground and all decisions are taken in power corridors in Delhi and state administration is incompetent to such an extent that it can’t release even a single detainee.
Ridiculing the statement of Mehbooba Mufti, wherein she said that people bailed out by courts won’t be re-arrested but it proved an hoax as those bailed out by court are re-arrested and detained in police stations. Huriyat said that police arrested people and activists without taking into consideration their age and gender and even elderly and minors were detained under PSA.
Hurriyat Conference (G) on Tuesday expressed deep concern over continuous detention of pro-freedom leaders and activists and appealed to the international community and rights groups to take cognizance of the plight of detainees.
Referring to continued detention of various pro-freedom activists and leaders, Hurriyat said that elderly Shah Wali Mohammad, Abdus Subhan Wani, Mohammad Rustum Bhat and others including Masarat Aalam Bhat, Ab Ahad Para, Ameer Hamza Shah, Mohammad Yusuf Lone, Mir Hafezullah, Mohammad Shaban Dar, Mohammad Yusuf Falahi, Mohammad Rafiq Gania, Raies Ahmad Mir, Bashir Ahmad Boya, Nasir Abdullah, Molana Sarjan Barkati, Mohammad Rafiq Raina, Mushtaq Ahmad Hura and Mohammad Yosuf Bhat are languishing in jails for longer periods and their detention is being prolonged on one pretext or the other.
Huriyat said that more than six hundred innocent citizens were slapped infamous PSA and detained in different jails while around three hundred more youth are detained in police lockups. “These detainees are subjected to severe torture and vengeance,” Hurriyat said.
