Thousands brave snowfall to attend Jinaza of militants in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Braving snowfall and chill thousands of people Monday attended the funeral prayers of three Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants who were killed in a night long encounter with government forces at Awoora village of Pahalgam in Anantnag district.
Soon after the encounter ended, people from dozens of villages started marching towards the encounter site to take possession of the militant bodies, reports said.
The bodies of the slain militants were carried towards their native villages in the form of huge processions. As the bodies were being taken for funeral pro-freedom and anti-India slogans reverberated the south Kashmir areas, eyewitnesses said.
Due to the shortage of space funeral of two slain militants Abid and Masood were held in open fields near Hatigam after which both of them were taken to their native villages. The funeral of the third militant Adil from Bijbehara was held in the premises of their house in Bijbehara which was attended by thousands, they added.
