Srinagar: The Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) Mirpur, is all set to confer an honorary degree of doctorate upon Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani in acknowledgement of his lifelong services to the Kashmiri people, Pak media reports said on Saturday.
“The Azad Jammu & Kashmir President and MUST Chancellor Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan will confer the honorary degree of doctorate upon Hurriyat Conference and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu & Kashmir Chairman Syed Ali Geelani at the second convocation of MUST being held at the local campus on January 16,” reports quoting MUST VC Dr Habibur Rehman said.
The VC said the varsity had invited Geelani, but the elderly Kashmiri leader would not attend since India had confiscated his travel documents.
Geelani has, however, nominated a representative from his organisation in Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK0 Ghulam Muhammad Safi, to receive the degree on his behalf.
