Baramulla: A girl from a remote village in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has secured cent percent marks in the matriculation results even as her school has secured 18 distinction ranks out of a total of 20 students.
Saifa Mumtaz Mir has become the first student from the border area who topped the matriculation result declared on January 12 on the grade system basis.
A resident of Hiller-Peerniyan in Boniyar tehsil of the border area, Mir was studying in New Child Care High School in Boniyar. “I am thankful to almighty Allah who helped me to secure first position in this border village. I also thank my teachers and other school management who took steps for our education during the unrest and organised zero classes for the students,” she said.
Boniyar, a remote village near Uri, is close to the LoC where children do not enjoy facilities like their counterparts boast in Srinagar and Baramulla headquarters.
