Srinagar: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has asked chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to take “full control of People’s Democratic Party” (PDP) and ensure that “sycophants in the party” are marginalized so that the mission of party founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is carried to the logical end.
In a statement issued APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that Mufti was a visionary who always worked for the betterment of people of Jammu & Kashmir. Raina said that PDP founder always believed in equitable development of the state and was never biased towards a particular region.
“Mufti was one of the tallest leaders of the country and it was he who brought India and Pakistan close while Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Prime Minister of India. He always batted for strong Indo-Pak relations saying that this would ultimately lead to peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir. He also motivated the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi to go to Pakistan and extend a hand of friendship,” said APSCC Chairman.
Expressing concern Raina said, “PDP’s agenda has been hijacked by some sycophants and commitment made with the electorate including Sikh minority has not been fulfilled and that this is causing damage to the overall image of the party.” He said that chief minister should take complete control of the party so that the anti-party elements are weeded out from the fold of PDP.
“Leaders like Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, Late Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and Tariq Hameed Karra played an important role in the formation of PDP. At the same time some people gained fame out of nothing and these people are now busy in tarnishing the image of the party. As such it becomes imperative for the party president to be vigilant and take necessary action as and when required,” said APSCC Chairman.
