3 labourers killed in attack on GREF camp in Akhnoor

Militants escape after finding no military target
Jammu: Three labourers working with General Engineering Reserve Force (GREF) were killed and another critically injured when three militants stormed into a GREF camp near the Line of Control, Akhnoor in Jammu.

The militants reportedly forced their entry into the camp at around 1.15am, firing with automatic rifles and lobbing grenades.

Three labourers— Salman Khan, Ramesh Topono and Abdul Aziz—fell to the bullets initially while another labourer, Irshad Alam critically injured in the firing was shifted to hospital.

Ten other labourers survived because they had locked themselves inside a room.

The militants escaped from the camp because, apparently, they did not find any military target.

Army, police and other paramilitary personnel have launched a search operation to nab the militants.

During the search operation, the forces are learnt to have recovered four magazines, three grenades and three bottles of incendiary chemicals.
