Sopore: A complete shutdown was observed in Sopore town and its adjacent areas on Saturday to mourn the death of a local militant commander.
Mohammad Muzaffar Naiko (38) of Bhagat Batpora, Sopore, popularly known as Muza Molvi, was killed by government forces on Srinagar outskirts on Thursday night and was laid to rest on Friday amid heavy snowfall at his birthplace.
All the shops and business establishments were closed while the public transport was completely off the roads.
Amid the shutdown, some local residents were seen walking towards the local martyr’s graveyard to offer prayers for the slain commander.
Meanwhile, authorities restored Internet services that had been banned in Sopore town after the militant’s killing.
