SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, on Wednesday said that the present Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed to equitable development of three regions of the state with emphasis on unattended parts.
The Minister, while addressing a mammoth public gathering here on Wednesday, said that peace is imperative for overall development of the State adding that we all should strive hard and put in collective efforts in this regard. Due to unrest in the valley during the past few months the development process received a huge set back which needs to be recovered by redoubling our endeavours at all levels, he added.
Recalling the contribution of Former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, towards sustainable development of the State, the Minister said that he was a legend and a visionary leader who worked selflessly for welfare and development of destitute and downtrodden segments of the society. His contribution will be remembered and revered for long by the coming generations whom he gifted numerous conveniences, he added. He spelled out some of achievements of the great reformer which inter alia include Islamic University of Sciences & Technology Awantipora, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri, North and South Camps, construction of flyover, development of Eidgah and Badamwari, Mughal road, Sinthan-Kishtwar road and dozens of development authorities.
The Minister extolled that the agenda of Late Mufti is being carried out with the same vigour and devotion by the present government and several initiatives including Dargah revival programme are in pipe line to make the J&K a model state of the country.
Describing public participation as a potent tool in socio-economic transformation of an area, the Minister appealed the people to extend complete cooperation to the government in achieving the goal of progressed and prosperous state.
On the occasion, special prayers were offered in memory of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to pay homage to the departed soul.
