Jammu: Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) is all set to host School Nationals in two Games in two more games under the aegis of School Games Federation of India in February, a statement issued by the (DYSS) said.
According to the statement this was stated by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari in a review meeting of the sports department.
Ansari highlighted the importance of YS&S Department and other such Departments, Institutions and Sports bodies in shaping the sports skills of the young boys and girls. He laid a special stress on the mass participation of school children in games and sports. He said that tapping the sports talent in the early age and channelizing it in a proper director is the need of the hour.
Minister also directed (DYSS) officials to ensure the best possible arrangements and other facilities for the participants of forthcoming National Events.
While briefing the Minister about the activities of the YSS Department, Director(DYSS) Shiekh Fayaz stated that Department has been able to clinch 60 medals in various National Level Events so far and we are expecting more in the forthcoming sports events.
The National Level Championship in Cricket (U/17) for Girls is scheduled to commence from 7January and will conclude on 11th February and simultaneously the School National in Tennis Ball Cricket (U/19) for boys & Girls shall begin from 14 February at Jammu.
Besides other senior officials, Secretary Youth Services & Sports Hilal Parary was also present in the meeting.
