SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Monday condoled the demise of wife of senior member of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, renowned scholar, writer and a long-term associate of Radio Pakistan, Mateen Fikri.
In a statement issued here, Geelani prayed for peace to the departed soul. “It is very hard to bear the loss of the life partner in this old age as one looses the most intimate, loving and caring companion,” he said.
Meanwhile, Geelani strongly condemned the arrest of acting district president Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Kupwara, Farooq Ahmad. “Farooq Sahab is a political worker and was peacefully continuing his political activities. But this law less land has been shrunk for every peaceful activity and anybody daring to do so is crushed and maimed by the brutal and inhuman police force. Just to appease their masters, police first arrested his aged father, then his brother and now he has been arrested and lodged at some unknown destination,” he said.
Geelani said instead of facing the TeH leaders politically, authorities use police to “suppress every voice raised against the Indian forcible occupation”.”This is not only condemnable but shameful as well,” he said.
