Jammu: A united Opposition and the government on Monday traded charges against each other for disrespecting the national anthem during the joint sitting of the legislative assembly session.
The government spokesperson Naeem Akhtar criticised the Opposition for disrupting the anthem because of their actions.
“Nobody was able to hear national anthem even the governor himself. It is disrespect to the anthem,” he said.
BJP legislator Ravinder Raina went a step ahead and accused the governor NN Vohra of disrespecting the anthem.
“Unfortunately during the governor’s address, the national anthem had to be stopped as the Opposition created pandemonium. The governor also walked away when the national anthem was being played out”, he said.
Congress legislator Nawang Rigzin Jora, however, brushed aside the charges saying they are “patriots”.
“The government cannot defend itself and they are raising these issues,” he added.
