Jammu: A day ahead of the budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature, a high level legislative party meeting of National Conference was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan on Sunday evening with working president Omar Abdullah in the chair, to firm up the party strategy during the session, according to a press release.
The meeting was attended by the NC members of the legislative assembly and legislative council. The meeting, which lasted for over one and half hour, discussed elaborately the issues to be taken up in the two houses.
The meeting observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect to Dharamveer Singh Oberoi, a sitting MLC of the party who passed away the other day. Omar Abdullah paid tributes to late Oberoi while the legislative party placed on record its deep appreciation for the role played by the late leader as a pro-active legislator.
The Budget session begins on Monday and Governor N N Vohra will address both houses.
The legislative assembly will also see obituary references on the demise of Lt. General (Retd) SK Sinha, former Governor of the State; Mohammad Shafi Qureshi, former government of India minister and ex-Governor of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, Mangat Ram Sharma, ex-Deputy Chief Minister, Mohammad Shafi Bhat, ex-MP; Ghulam-ud-Din Shah, ex-Minister; Prithvi Chand, ex-MLA;
Aziz Mohammad Qari, ex-MLC and Dharambir Singh Oberio, MLC.
