SRINAGAR: College principals of Kashmir division on Saturday held a meeting at Amar Singh College here to discuss “some crucial issues”.
As per a statement issued here, the issues discussed during the meeting included the conduct of various undergraduate examinations, introduction of skill enhancement courses under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from 3rd semester, discipline specific elective courses from 5th semester, ongoing evaluation of under graduate classes, IT support service at the colleges, VISAKA initiatives taken by the college sector, online application forms for admission and scholarship programmes of various welfare departments and the proposed changes in the calendar of the examination of BG 1st semester.
“All the principals unanimously resolved to appeal the Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, to stick to the decision taken in the meeting with university authorities on 19th November, 2016, wherein, the dates for BG 1st semester examination have been fixed for 2nd week of January, 2017. The proposed change in the dates is going to send wrong signal to the student community who have to complete the 2nd semester examination as well before the commencement of the new academic session,” the meeting observed,
During the meeting, the statement said, it was decided to request the university authorities through Dean Academics to initiate necessary steps towards the timely introduction of skill enhancement and discipline specific elective courses starting from 3rd and 5th semester respectively in respect of undergraduate courses under CBCS.
“A formal communication to this effect has been sent to Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir,” the statement added.
